FAQ

A few gentle answers about creative, somatic, individual, and group therapy at Flow and Grow.

Do I need art experience to do art therapy or expressive arts therapy?

No. Art in this work is not about performance, skill, or aesthetic evaluation. It is a gentle way to explore regulation, expression, meaning, and agency.

Will we talk, make art, or focus on the body?

Sessions may include conversation, creative exploration, embodied awareness, and reflection. We decide together what feels supportive and move at a pace that honors your nervous system.

Are sessions online or in person?

Online sessions are available for new-client consultations and individual psychotherapy. In-person sessions are now available in the Kitchener-Waterloo region by direct contact, with the practice located at 169 Lexington Ct, Waterloo.

Can I book a consultation before starting therapy?

Yes. A free 15-minute online consultation is available through Jane. It is a brief space to share what you are looking for, ask questions, and notice whether working together feels like a supportive fit.

Who are individual sessions for?

Individual psychotherapy may support adults exploring emotions, relationships, trauma, stress, life transitions, self-understanding, cultural identity, and creative self-expression.

What is the difference between individual sessions and group therapy?

Individual sessions offer personalized support for your own pace, needs, and goals. Themed group therapy offers guided exploration around shared topics, connection with others, and experiential activities over several weeks.

What can I expect from the first session?

The first session is a place to begin slowly. We can talk about what brings you here, what helps you feel safe enough, and what kind of support may fit. Consent, pacing, and collaboration are central.

How do I book or ask a question?

You can book online through Jane for current availability, session details, and consultation options. You can also email if you would like to ask about in-person scheduling or another question before booking.
